27 - 29 N 3rd Street, The Manufacturer's National Bank, was designed and built in 1870 by the firm of John Fraser, Frank Furness and George Hewitt. The intricate details of Furness’ style are showcased in the detail around the vault and the skylight that commands attention as you enter the building. The design and construction process of 27 - 29 N 3rd became a catalyst for Furness to break away from the elder Fraser and embrace his own style and vision with his own firm. He went on to become one of Philadelphia's most prominent architects, famous for Broad Street station, The Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, and many more.
The building was renovated in 1986 as office space, but maintains many of it's original design elements.
