312-14 Race St (most recently, Dinardo's Seafood)

312-14 Race St dates to 1831 and operated as a hotel, tavern or restaurant throughout most of it's history. In the late 1800's it operated as a hotel that had many names over the years including John Binder's (1875), John Henry Ullman's (1885), and the Germania Hotel (1895 - 1900+).

In recent years 312-14 Race housed several taverns and restaurants, including Ye Bridge Tavern, King's Inn and, most recently, Dinardo's Seafood.

The building was designated historic in 1980 for its design, use and date as it reflects the nineteenth century commercial character of the Old City National Historic District.

Dinardo's closed in 2018 after 40 years. Developers plan to add 2 stories to the old restaurant building, demolish 2 adjacent properties (316 & 318 Race St, both built in the 1950's) and build apartments that would combine the old building with new. 316 Vine previously had a building that housed the Perseverance Hose Company. The Company was established on May 27, 1805 and operated until 1871 when Philadelphia’s paid firefighting department was established.
