28 N 3rd St

28 N 3rd St was built ca. 1857 in the Italianate style for garment merchant Henry Korn. The architect was Stephen Decatur Button, who designed many buildings in Philadelphia and in Cape May, NJ.

By 1867, Joel J Baily & Co., a clothing wholesaler, had taken over the building. Over the years it housed many clothing wholesalers, as did many of the buildings on N 3rd St. In the 1940's & 50's, 28 N 3rd housed Domestic Overall and Pants Co., which had been in business since at least 1909, originally on Market St. In the 1980s - 2000's Frank Sussman Co, another clothing wholesaler was there.

The building was placed on Philadelphia's Register of Historic Places in 1984. In 2006 the upper floors were renovated into condos.
