Built in 1851-1853 by dry goods merchants Bunn, Raiguel & Company – importers of silks and other dress items – 135-137 N. 3rd Street is a five-story, Italianate-style brownstone store and warehouse building.
The building was designed by Gustav Runge, who would later briefly partner with Napolean LeBrun in 1855-1857 to design the Academy of Music.
The machine tool maker Samuel Machinery occupied the space from 1894 until it went out of business around 2005. The building sat empty and derelict until it's rehab into stores and apartments in 2016.
